Questions parents ask

Short answers here. Step-by-step help is on the help page.

About the app

Who is Deenlumo for?

Children aged 6 to 8. Lumo reads every instruction aloud, so children who are still learning to read can play too.

What will my child learn?

Everyday Islam (kindness, what wudu is, wudu step by step, the five daily prayers, masjid manners), good character at home, at school, with family, at the market and in nature, feelings, healthy habits, all 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet and 84 everyday Arabic words. See all 14 chapters.

Does Deenlumo teach Quran or duas?

Not yet. No Quran verse or dua is shown until a qualified scholar has approved its wording. Today the app teaches manners, such as starting meals with Allah's name and greeting with salam.

Is it a game or a lesson?

Both, gently. Each adventure is a short story your child plays, and the 8 games practise the same skills. Mistakes are explained kindly and a hint appears after two tries.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone and iPad. On iPad it uses a tablet-sized layout. There is no Android version at the moment.

Privacy and safety

Does Deenlumo collect any data?

No. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the app asks for no permissions. Progress stays on your device. Read the privacy policy.

Can my child buy something by accident?

No. Plans and prices appear only behind the grown-ups check. Children never see a price or a purchase button.

Are prophets or angels shown?

No. No prophets or angels are ever drawn.

Play time and settings

How long should my child play?

That is your call. Lumo suggests a short break about every 20 minutes, and you can set an optional daily limit (off by default). There are no streaks pulling children back.

Is there music? Can we turn it off?

There is gentle music and there are sound effects. The No music mode turns all background music off, and voice, music and effects each have their own volume.

Can siblings share one device?

Yes. Up to 3 children can play on one device, each with their own explorer, stars, garden and suggestions. No names, no logins.

Which languages are there?

English, French and Arabic, with full right-to-left layout in Arabic. You can choose your child's learning language separately from your own.

Is progress shared between our devices?

No. Progress stays on the device where it was earned. There is no cloud sync.

Free and Deenlumo Family

What is free?

The first adventure of every chapter, the first level of every game, Lumo's Review, the garden and every grown-ups feature. No card and no sign-up.

What does Deenlumo Family add?

All 112 adventures, the trickier game levels, Lumo's Challenge and the full Quiz Show, for every child on the device with no charge per child. See pricing.

Is there a free trial?

No. The free path is how you try Deenlumo, so there is no trial that turns into a charge.

How do I cancel?

In Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or with Manage subscription in the grown-ups area. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period.

What do we keep if we stop?

Everything your children earned: stars, garden and progress. The free adventures stay open.
