A gentle first step into the deen
Deenlumo exists so that a Muslim child's first lessons about Islam feel warm, playful and their own, and so that parents never have to worry about what the app is doing behind their back.
Why we make it
Many Muslim parents told the same story in app reviews: great content, but locked behind a paywall, full of bugs, or built for children who can already read. Others had to swap YouTube for something safer, and still worried about screen time.
We wanted one calm place for children aged 6 to 8 to meet everyday Islam the way they meet the world: through friends, little choices and play. Kindness, clean hands before prayer, quiet feet in the masjid, the Arabic letters. Small things, practised often, talked about at home.
What we hold to
Kind, never pushy
No streaks to lose, no leaderboards, no countdowns. Breaks are suggested, not punished.
Private by default
No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. Nothing your child does leaves the device.
Careful with the deen
We teach manners and practices in careful words, and leave what differs between families to families.
Honest about what is ready
We only claim what the app does today. If something is still waiting for review, we say so.
How the adventures are made
Written for one age
Each adventure is written for children aged 6 to 8, with short sentences, a clear goal and a kind explanation for every wrong answer.
Shaped by a teaching plan
Adventures, games and review follow a curriculum map so that each skill is met, practised and brought back later.
Reviewed by people (planned)
The founder is arranging for a qualified Islamic scholar and an educator to review the adventures. No scholar or educator has reviewed them yet. We will say so here, and name the reviewers with their permission, once they have. Until then, if something differs from what your family does, please ask your local imam or teacher.
Sacred text waits for a scholar. No Quran verse or dua appears in the app until a qualified scholar has approved its wording. That is why some topics you might expect are not in Deenlumo yet.
No prophets or angels are ever drawn. The village is full of ordinary families with diverse skin tones and modest, everyday clothes.
Where practice can differ between families, the adventures hand the details back to you. In What Is Wudu?, Lumo says: "Your family or teacher will show you how!"
